Back to School

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We are thrilled to embark on this journey with you and your child. Our classrooms are designed to be nurturing environments that encourage healthy habits and provide a wide space for exploring a “feast of ideas” across various subjects, including reading, math, nature study, literature, history, and more. Please take a moment to review the important details below as we prepare for the start of the school year.

First Day of School Checklist:
Please label everything with your child's name.

Daily Essentials:

Lunch

  • Separate Snack (for snack time)

  • Reusable Water Bottle (filled with water only)

Items to Send on the 1st Day (to stay at school):

  • Sweatshirt/Sweater

  • Rain Boots

  • For Grades K-2: Full Change of Clothes

  • Box of Facial tissue

  • 2 Rolls of paper towels

  • Non-toxic spray cleaners (e.g., Mrs. Meyers brand)

Important Details for the First Day and Beyond:

Drop Off / Pick-up:

  • Drop-off: (Except Tuesdays) Drop-off is between 7:45 AM and 7:55 AM.

    • You are welcome to walk your child into the classroom on the first day, but we kindly ask that you say goodbye by 8:00 AM so we can begin our morning assembly.

    • Parents are invited to stay as guests for the morning assembly to help start the year on a welcoming note.

  • Late Start Day: Every Tuesday Drop-off is between 8:45 AM and 8:55 AM.

  • Pick-up Time: Daily at 3:00 PM. Pickup ends at 3:15 PM.

    • After one grace period, a $25 fee will be added to tuition for late pickup.

Food:

  • Daily Lunch: Please send a labeled lunch and a reusable water bottle (filled with water only).

  • Daily Snack: A separate snack is required. Labeling snacks is optional for grades 3 and up.

    • Allergies: If your child has any food allergies, please inform us as soon as possible.

    • Healthy Choices: We encourage low-sugar foods for both lunch and snack. We are also considering a school-wide rule against candy for both snacks and lunch.

Clothing:

  • We plan to be outside for approximately 45 minutes each day, so please check the weather and ensure your child is dressed appropriately. An extra sweater/sweatshirt and rain boots (labeled with your child's name) should be kept at school.
     

  • Since outdoor activities are a significant part of our curriculum, especially during Nature Study, please dress your child in clothes that can get dirty. We often take walks in Palmer Park, where mud is always a possibility!
     

  • For Grades K-2: Please send a full change of clothes (labeled with your child's name) to stay at school in case of spills or accidents.

Toys:

  • We ask that no toys from home be brought to school, except for special occasions, which will be announced in advance.

Phone-Free School:

  • No Phone or Electronic Devises During School Hours: If a parent determines that their child needs to bring a cell phone or personal electronic communication device to school, it must be stored, turned off, and kept away from the student during the entire school day.

Daily Schedule:

  • 8:00 AM: Morning Studies

  • 12:15 PM: Recess / Lunch

  • 1:15 PM: Specials 

  • End of the Day: Chores (to reset the classroom for the next day's studies)
