Being a new staff member at CMCS has been an adventure, to say the least. My personal experience at this school has been unparalleled to other schools where I have worked. There is a different mindset in the school itself and with the teachers, students and helpers.

Just the other day during the 2nd and 3rd grade gym class, there was a child who was struggling and taking a bit longer than the other students to finish his 5-lap warm-up run. At every school or child-care I have staffed, you would hear kids making rude and mean remarks toward the struggling child such as “You’re taking all day,” “C’mon!,” “Hurry up!.” I half expected his classmates to do something along those lines, but something different happened.

One of the students ran up to the struggling child and started running with him and encouraging him. To my surprise, everyone joined in and helped the child finish. This was incredibly heartwarming to witness.
I am proud of each one of my students for showing what having heart truly means.  Do not let me be mistaken; this is not only in the 2nd and 3rd grade class, but in the entire school. If all school children were like those at CMCS I would truly be excited to see what the future holds! CMCS is such a positive and supportive school and I couldn’t be happier to be working here!

Being at Charlotte Mason has been quite a ride. I can say from my experience that it is truly a gift. In my last years, I am aware more and more of the benefits that Charlotte Mason provides. My education is very different from some of my friends who attend other schools. Instead of being taught tons of information to memorize only to forget after a test, at CMCS you are taught to love to learn for the sake of your natural curiosity. Where some schools seem impersonal almost assembly line in nature the environment here is more of a community. Teachers encourage good habits that day by day build you up to be a great student because the little decisions every day make you into who you are. The friendships I have made will last a lifetime.
